It is a knot which draws tight and has many uses. A clove hitch can be used for fixing ropes around trees, poles and for matching a rope and a karabiner. The knot can be easily put on objects by a tightening loop or tied around an object. It is widely used when fixing ropes courses, because you can easily adjust the length of individual rope strand. When unloading the knot, it can be easily untied (taken off a karabiner). If the tightening loop is fixed around a rounded object of a small diameter (a karabiner), only one rope strand coming from the knot can be loaded. It does not hold on square objects. When fixing around objects of a big diameter, a safety knot is necessary, otherwise the knot slips.
