The bowline used to be the classical knot for tying to a rope. It makes a solid loop and is easily tied. However, it loosens when pulling the solid loop sideward. It is necessary to finish it by other safety knots – Yosemite bowline or Double loop bowline. The broadest use is when tying to a rope or when making any solid loop.
